Obituary of Maetrude Caton

Maetrude Caton Maetrude Caton, a resident of Hopewell Junction, entered into rest Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at Wingate at Beacon. She was 84. Daughter of the late James and Rosa Williams Orr, she was born October 13, 1923 in Bamberg, South Carolina. Mae worked as a Psychiatric Nurse at Hudson River State Hospital, Poughkeepsie prior to her retirement in 1987. She enjoyed attending events with the East Fishkill Senior Citizen's and was a supporter of her community. Mae also enjoyed cooking and entertaining for her family and friends. Most importantly she treasured the time she spent with her family. Survivors include her husband of over sixty years, Maurice Caton at home in Hopewell Junction; her children, Carolyn Patterson of the Bronx, Nathan Patterson and his wife, Patricia of Long Island, Anthony Caton of the Bronx, Cheryl Caton-Carrion and her husband, Felipe Carrion of the Bronx, Michelle Harden and her husband, Roderick of Beacon and Robert Caton of Fishkill; her daughters-in-law, Jacqueline Caton of the Bronx and Hilda Caton of Florida; her sisters, Erma Dancy and her husband, Paul of Poughkeepsie and Rosalie Mercer and her husband, Moses of Virginia; twenty-seven grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her children, Anita Gardner, Maurice Caton, Jr. and Ronald Caton; her brother, James Orr and her sister, Mabel Tilghman. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 3, 2008 from 11 am to 12 noon at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 3 at 12 noon at the funeral home with Rev. Roderick McArthur officiating. Interment will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Avenue, Poughkeepsie.
