Obituary of Josephine W. Hake
Josephine W. Hake
On March 16, 2008 God extended his hands to our mother and grandmother and lead her to her eternal rest with her family at her side. At 91, she peacefully began her new journey.
On February 10, 1917 an angel Josephine Murphy was born and raised in the Bronx to the late Daniel and Julia McCarthy Murphy. She was employed at Jacobi Medical Center for 25 years.
On February 13, 1935 she married Edward Hake who predeceased her in 1986.
Four children had the privilege to call her mom; her daughter, Joan Zicchino and her husband, Henry of New Jersey; her daughter, Virginia Guyette and her husband, Floyd of Florida; her son and retired NYPD, Richard Hake of the Bronx, and her daughter and best friend Claire Mellia and her husband, Dominick of Hyde Park. Josephine was the proud "Nannie" of thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, who she kept all very close to heart.
Her compassion for animals was immeasurable; her cat Sydney will surely miss her. Josephine was an active reader, enjoyed watching TV, listening to her radio, talking on the phone, getting her hair done and above all a chocolate cake.
Wherever she went she made a friend and "chatted" with just about anyone. She has touched many lives in very special ways and will be deeply missed by all.
"Behind the clouds comes the sun."
