Obituary of Vincent Saccoccio
Vincent Saccoccio
Vincent Saccoccio, a resident of the Town of Wappinger, entered into rest, Wednesday March 12, 2008 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. He was 74.
Son of Palma Saccoccio and the late Mario Saccoccio, he was born February 7, 1934 in Itri, Italy. He moved from Italy to the United States with his family when he was a teenager after enduring the hardships of World War II.
Vincent proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a barber working for over twenty years in Manhattan and most recently for many years at Nine Mall Barbers, Wappingers Falls. He was an avid bowler, enjoying the times he spent bowling at HoeBowl, Wappingers Falls. He was a beautiful man adored and loved by his family. He will be remembered for his kind and gentle manner. He will be truly missed by all he knew and loved him.
In addition to his mother, Palma Saccoccio of the Bronx, he is survived by his wife, Rosanna; his sons, Mario Saccoccio and his wife, Alicia of Hewitt, New Jersey, Raymond Saccoccio of Walnut Creek, California and Vincent Saccoccio and his wife, Marianne of Newburgh; his step-children, Terri Laug and her husband, Rob of Norwalk, Connecticut, Tina Williams and her husband, Rob of Wappingers Falls, and Michael Colonna of Wappingers Falls; his brothers, Ivano and Eilo Saccoccio; his sister, Marisa Canzano; his grandchildren, Gloria Saccoccio and Zachary and Jason Laug; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Gloria Saccoccio.
Family will receive their friends on Friday, March 14, 2008 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls.
A funeral service will he held at 11 am on Saturday, March 15 at the funeral home.
Entombment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Route 9W, Newburgh.
