Obituary of Virginia Vanvoorhis

Virginia VanVoorhis Virginia VanVoorhis of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 82. Daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Duncan Cola, she was born on May 21, 1925 in Corona, NY. She married Roderick VanVoorhis on May 22, 1948 in Wappingers Falls; Mr. VanVoorhis survives in Wappingers Falls. In addition to her husband, Roderick, she is survived by her nephew, Dennis Sheehan of Poughkeepsie and her grand-niece, Ashley Sheehan of Middletown. She was predeceased by her sister, Sarah Gruhl and her niece, Virginia Sheehan. Family will receive their friends on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 from 12 to 1 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held following visitation at 1 p.m. at the funeral home; Rev. Sandra Mantz will officiate. Interment will follow in Nine Partners Cemetery, Millbrook.
