Obituary of Virginia V. Maynard

Virginia Maynard Virginia Maynard, a resident of the Town of Wappinger, entered into rest Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. She was 83. Daughter of the late Charles and Mary Vayda, she was born April 9, 1924 in Bayonne, New Jersey. She graduated from Holy Family Academy in Bayonne. On June 1, 1946, she married L. Everett Maynard at St. Joseph's Church, Bayonne. Mr. Maynard preceded her in death, January 30, 1993. Virginia was a secretary at IBM, East Fishkill prior to her retirement. She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church, Wappingers Falls. She is survived by her two nephews, Charles Vayda of New Providence, New Jersey and William Vayda and his wife, Deborah of Bayonne, New Jersey; her niece, Elizabeth Gantner and her husband, Thomas of Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania and four great-nieces. Family will receive their friends on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Thursday, April 10 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in the family plot in Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City, New Jersey. Memorial donations on Virginia's behalf may be made to either St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590 or Holy Family Academy, 239 Avenue A, Bayonne, NJ 07002.
