Obituary of Ruth W. Miller

Ruth W. Miller Town of Wappinger - Ruth Louise (Walsh) Miller died in her sleep at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie on Saturday, May 10, 2008. She was born June 3, 1927 to the late James Emmett and Edith Locke Walsh in Batavia, New York. On June 29, 1946 she married Phillip G. Miller at St. Mary's Church in Batavia. Mr. Miller preceded her in death April 10, 2005. Ruth retired from the telephone company, AT&T, as a Chief Operator in 1981. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards and getting together with her friends. She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church, Wappingers Falls. She is survived by her children, Stephen J. Miller and his wife, Andrea of Wappingers Falls, Donald C. Miller and his wife, Colette of LaGrange, Richard J. Miller and his wife, Elvira of Poughkeepsie and Brenda J. Miller at home in Wappingers Falls; her brother, James E. Walsh of Lakeville, New York; her sisters, Janet Cullip of Pennsylvania and Rosemary Hunt of California; her nine grandchildren of whom she was very proud, Stephen J. Miller, II of Stamford, Connecticut, Christopher P. Miller of Peekskill, Lisa Hubbard and her husband, Sean of Hyde Park, Jeffrey Miller and his wife, Stephanie of Pennsylvania, Alyson Miller of LaGrange, Julie Mohl and her husband, Timmy of Newburgh, Kristen Miller of Poughkeepsie, John Miller of New Haven, Connecticut and Phillip Miller at home in Wappingers Falls; her three greatchildren, Martika Hubbard, Sean Hubbard, Jr. and Kristine Miller and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Phillip G. Miller, she was predeceased by her son, Phillip D. Miller. Family will receive their friends on Monday, May 12, 2008 from 4 to 8 pm at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Tuesday, May 13 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wappingers Falls. Memorial donations on Ruth's behalf may be made to the American Heart Association, Heart Gifts Processing Center, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff in ICU and South Circle 7 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center for the care and compassion given to Ruth in her final days.
