Obituary of Margaret C. Peter

Margo Chopyak Peter Margo Chopyak Peter of Poughkeepsie, formerly of Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania, entered into rest Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at Hudson Haven Care Center in Wappingers Falls. She was 84. Daughter of the late John and Anna Pawelchek Chopyak she was born on July 6, 1921 in Peekskill. She graduated from Peekskill High School and went on to become a pediatric nurse, spending many years in Manhattan as a private duty nurse for wealthy families. Margo moved to Chestnut Hill where she met and married the love of her life, Camile "Buddy" Peter, in 1971. He precedes her in death, passing in 1978. She remained in Chestnut Hill until 7 years ago when she came to the Poughkeepsie area to be with her family. Margo enjoyed people and loved entertaining her many friends, treating them to her gourmet cooking and her vivacious personality; she will be deeply missed by all that knew her. Margo is survived by her niece, Linda Chopyak of Modena, and her cousins, Noel McCaffrey of Poughkeepsie, Dian Rohr of Peekskill, Lynn and Joe Stassio of Davie, Florida, Donna Astrab of Peekskill and Christine Wichmann of Chatham, and all of their families. In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by her brothers John, George, Billy and Joseph Chopyak., all from Peekskill. A special thanks to all of the extraordinary staff and Hudson Haven Care Center; they shared extreme kindness and loving care during her stay at the facility. A graveside service and burial of ashes will take place at Chestnut Hill Cemetery at a later date.
