Elvira R. Orefice

Elvira R. Orefice, of Woodstock and formerly of the Town of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Ferncliff Nursing Home, Rhinebeck. She was 90.

Daughter of the late Domenico and Barbara Sarno Sorrentino, she was born February 24, 1918 in New York City. She was married to Dominick R. Orefice for 69 years. Mr. Orefice preceded her in death February 15, 2004.

Mrs. Orefice attended St. Denis Church, Hopewell Junction before moving to Woodstock. She provided a loving home for her family; she especially enjoyed cooking and shopping.

Survivors include her daughter, Phyllis DiPalma of Pleasant Valley; her son, Robert Ore and his wife, Judith of Woodstock; her grandchildren, Deborah Wells of Stanfordville, Joseph DiPalma of Wappingers Falls, Robert DeFrancesco of Red Hook, Melissa Julian of Chesapeake, Virginia, Jason Vito of Poughkeepsie and Ursula Ore of Woodstock; her great-grandchildren, Joseph, Marissa and Michael DiPalma and Christopher and Angelina Julian and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Ida Vito; her son-in-law Joseph DiPalma; her sisters, Ursulena, Carolina, and Genevieve; and her brother Nunzio.

Family will receive their friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Friday, August 1, 2008 at Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Saturday, August 2 at St. Denis Church, Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction. Interment will follow in the St. Denis Cemetery, Hopewell Junction.
