Obituary of Renee M. Sidote

Renee M. Sidote Renee M. Sidote, a resident of Hyde Park, entered into rest Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at her home. She was 73. Daughter of the late Ippolito "Joe" and Lena Berto Gioia, she was born March 18, 1935 in Ossining, New York. She married the love of her life, Anthony Sidote at St. Mary's Church, Wappingers Falls on November 13, 1954. Mr. Sidote survives at home in Hyde Park. After raising her children, Renee worked in the cafeteria at Sheafe Road Elementary School, Wappingers Falls and later as a communication technician at IBM, Poughkeepsie; she retired in 1992. Renee was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. She especially loved her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She loved to cook and entertain for her family and friends, making her home a special place to gather. Renee enjoyed going to the casinos, particularly with friends, Joe and Madeline. Renee also had a special love for animals. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her husband of fifty-three years, Anthony Sidote, she is survived by her children, Mark Sidote and his wife, Stephanie of Warrenton, VA, and Kari Marinucci and her husband Kevin of Wappingers Falls; her grandchildren, Maria, Steven and Gregory; her brothers, Donald Gioia of Wappingers Falls, and Robert Gioia of Poughkeepsie; her sister, Theresa Stevens and her husband, Richard of Poughkeepsie and their children, Jessica and Matthew; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Anthony Farrell. Family will receive their friends on Friday, August 8, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, August 9 at the funeral home; Rev. Sandra Mantz will officiate. Entombment will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Community Mausoleum, South Avenue, Poughkeepsie. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Renee's name to Hospice, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 or the American Cancer Society, 45 Reade Place, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
