Obituary of James Charles Stradling

James Charles Stradling James C. Stradling, a resident of the Town of Wappinger, entered into rest Saturday, August 16, 2008 at The Pines at Poughkeepsie. He was 98. Son of the late Charles and Eleanor Thomas Stradling, he was born June 18, 1910 in Tugaloo, Mississippi. He married the love of his life, the former Ina Begg, on January 7, 1933 in Eastchester Presbyterian Church in the Bronx. Mrs. Stradling survives at home in Wappingers Falls. James retired from the New York City Department of Sanitation where he worked as a mechanic. Prior to working for the Department of Sanitation, he was a fleet mechanic for Professional Linen Service in Manhattan. He enjoyed music, especially playing his harmonica. Most of all he loved his family; his family was his joy. In addition to his wife of seventy-five years, Ina Stradling, he is survived by his daughters, Ina Jane Sannicandro of Sherman, CT, Katherine Stradling-Zuccarelli and her husband, Louis of Hopewell Junction and Florence Colarusso and her husband, Robert of Hopewell Junction; his grandchildren, Frederick James, Richard Anthony and Christopher John Sannicandro, Kerrianne Fanelli, Joseph James and John Thomas Ferrari, Robert Scott, Stephen A. and Katherine Lynn Colarusso; his great-grandchildren, Jamie, Stephen and Justin Sannicandro, Kyra and Emma Fanelli, Mason and Freya Ferrari and Shawn and Alexander Colarusso; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Fred Sannicandro; his brothers, Harry and Robert; and his sisters, Annie, Alice and Florence. Family will receive their friends from 10 am to 12 noon on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A funeral service will follow at 12 noon at the funeral home. Interment will be in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Route 9, Fishkill. The family wishes to thank caregivers, June, Emma, Cheryl, Cathy, and Melonie; nurse, Pat Ruff; and Hospice for all the care and support they have given.
