It just isn't the same coming down Snead Dr anymore with the "Man Cave" closed for business. It was North Carolina's version of the northeast's "taproom"!
Dick will certainly be missed but will not be forgotten. His "telling it like it is" was most refreshing; his kindness and friendship were what set him apart.
Steve, Chris, Cathy Bob and Ron, condolences from the McGrath family. Your Dad/Brother was an absolute joy.

We are so sorry for your loss.
We'll miss Dick for ever. He brightened my days as a neighbor, friend, his yard and Nikki.
Dick led and set the standard for yards.
His was the best ever in Glen Ridge.
We'll see him on the other side and feel his loss. His family has to be blessed knowing how much they did for Dick.

Words can not express how deeply sorry we are for the loss of your Father. We know his passing will not only leave a void in our lives, but in the hearts of all those who knew him. Your Dad will always be with you; his spirit and good will be part of you no matter where you go. We will be miss his friendship, thoughtfulness, kindness and the yard of the month competition that we have enjoyed over the years.
We will always keep his memories held deeply with our hearts reminding us of how life should be lived. We want to let you know that you have our greatest sympathy and our hearts are truly saddened. Our sincere thoughts and prayers are with you. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear. May God give you strength.

It was with sadness that we learned of the passing of our friend and next door neighbor. May you look to God for strength and comfort in the days ahead as you look to get through this time of grief. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. While "Dick" was supported and encouraged by the help, love and visits by his friends, neighbors and brothers, I feel that he was especially glad that his sons were able to spend some quality time with him during his most recent illness. We will miss "Dick", but I beleive that we are all strengthened by having known "Dick" and we will never forget him. May we continue to know that God is our Lord and Savior. Please let us know if we may be of any assistance to you now and in the future.

We will very much miss Dick. Alex would walk through Dick's beutiful yard after school as he was coming home. Dick greeted him with a soda and a smile. He was an adopted second father to me. He and I would sit in his "Man Cave" almost every evening and I so much enjoyed his friendship and conversations about the "old times". Dick and I would trade grilling recepies and we shared a lot of good food. My wife said that Dick and I reminded her of George Jones and Vince Gill in the music video where George Jones rode his John Deere tractor. Dick and I both had John Deere's and would ride them to visit each other. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time and please let us know if there is ever anything you need.

I was so sorry to hear about your father's passing. Whenever I came home to visit my parents, your dad was usually sitting on the porch waiting to greet me with kind words and a wave. He will be missed, and you are both in my thoughts and prayers.

"Tricky Dick" will always hold a special place in my heart. He always had the ability to put a smile on my face and I am a better person for having met him. He will be terribly missed and never forgotten.

Christopher & Steven,
Please accept my sincerest condolences. It's been a long time, but I've never forgotten the "good" times we had together with your Dad! I most especially remember our picnic/hike at Mohonk - seems like a century ago now!!!!
With love and best wishes,
Marjorie

I have never met a group of MEN that were not afraid to display their LOVE/AFFECTION for one another.
Mr. Relyea was a true FATHER with a generous spirit.
I thank GOD for allowing our paths to cross.
THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING ME ENTRANCE INTO THE
"MAN CAVE"...
