Obituary of Ruth Eister George

Ruth Eister George Ruth Louise Eister George, 82, a forty-five year resident of Wappingers Falls, died late Friday evening, November 28, 2008. Daughter of the late William Howard Eister and Amelia Kublic, she was born August 20, 1926 in Sunbury, Pennsylvania. Ruth graduated from Pennsylvania State College with a Masters Degree in mathematics and a minor in education. While teaching at the Altoona Campus of Penn State, she met her future husband, Glenn, who was a returning Navy veteran and a student in her class. She left teaching to raise a family, but years later returned to the profession as a substitute teacher at Wappingers Junior High School where she focused on math and science. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wappingers Falls where she served as an elder and a founding member of the memorial committee. Ruth was the loving wife of Glenn Arthur George for fifty-six years and the proud and devoted mother and grandmother to her three daughters and their families; Cindy Barbieri and her husband, Joe, with Kristin, Tom and Kate of New Berlin, Wisconsin; Barbara Lewis and her husband, Alan with Evan and Keith of Carlisle, Massachusetts; and Robin Scappaticci and her husband, Chuck with Sean and Eric of Colorado Springs, Colorado. A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, January 10, 2009 at First Presbyterian Church, 2568 South Avenue, Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in Sunbury, Pennsylvania. Memorial donations may be made in Ruth's name to the Memorial Fund of the First Presbyterian Church, 2568 South Avenue, Wappingers Falls, New York 12590.
