Obituary of Marianina Scandariato

Marianina Scandariato Marianina Scandariato a resident of Town of Wappinger and formerly of Highland, entered into rest Friday, December 12, 2008 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. She was 91. Daughter of the late Anthony and Rosalie DeLena Alessi, she was born April 14, 1917 in New York City. On October 14, 1944 in St. Augustine's Church, Highland she married Rosario Scandariato. Her husband preceded her in death on April 3, 1992. Prior to her retirement, Marianina was a seamstress and a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and baking; she was known through out the family for her apple pies. She also had a love of animals. Survivors include her two daughters, Rosalie Cohen of Wappingers Falls and Marie Shulman and her husband, Burt of Brooklyn; her grandchildren, Danielle Weeks and her husband Jason, and Matthew Cohen; and her dog, Snaps. Family will receive their friends on Monday, December 15, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Tuesday, December 16 at St. Augustine's Church, Main Street, Highland. Interment will follow in Lloyd Cemetery, Highland.
