Obituary of Marie Simrany

Marie Simrany Marie Simrany, a twenty-one year resident of the Town of LaGrange and formerly of Yonkers, entered into eternal rest on January 6, 2009 with her loving family by her side. She was 83. Daughter of the late Serafino and Isabela Florio, she was born January 15, 1925 in Yonkers. She married George Simrany; her loving husband preceded her in death on February 14, 1975. Together with her husband, they owned and operated Faye's Luncheonette also known as George's in Yonkers for many years. Most importantly, she was a devoted mother and grandmother. Survivors include her daughters, Annabella Meier of Yonkers, Georgiana Pinto and her husband, Joe of Yonkers, Paula Kastanis and her husband, Athanasios "Tom" of Lagrange and owners of Falls Diner in Wappingers Falls; her grandchildren, Thomas and Judy Meier, Pastor Robert "Bucky" Meier and his wife, Lisa, Joanna Pinto, Isabel Pinto, George and Kathy Alicea Kastanis, Paul and Irene Kastanis, Panayota "Poni" Prokosch and her husband, Scott and Miltiadis Kastanis; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and her sister, Pasqua "Patty" Rotunno. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by five sisters and one brother. Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 8, 2009 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 9 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Yonkers.
