Obituary of Leopold Pozo

Leopold Pozo Leopold Pozo, a resident of Wappingers Falls and formerly of Yonkers, entered into rest Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Lutheran Care Center, Poughkeepsie. He was 88. Son of the late Leopold and Clemencia Finlayson Pozo, he was born August 22, 1920 in New York City. He married the former Maravillas Robles on October 2, 1944 in Algiers, Algeria. Mrs. Pozo survives at home in Wappingers Falls. Leo proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Guiding Star Council 212 in the Bronx. He also enjoyed photography and stamp collecting. In addition to his wife of sixty-four years, he is survived by his son, John L. Pozo and his wife, Maureen of Wappingers Falls; his grandchildren, Jeanine Lanzetta and John Kubasek; his great-grandchildren, Dion, Brandi and Andrew; and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive their friends on Saturday, January 24, 2009 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, January 25 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 26 at St. Mary's Church Clinton St., Wappingers Falls, NY. Burial will follow in St. Raymond's Cemetery, the Bronx. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
