Obituary of Raymond A. Hudson

Raymond A. "T-Joe" Hudson, Jr. Raymond A. "T-Joe" Hudson, Jr., 82, formerly of Wappingers Falls and Hughsonville, died Sunday, February 22, 2009, at Providence Hospital, Columbia, SC. Born in Wappingers Falls on September 9, 1926, he was the son of the late Ethel Sadler Hudson and Raymond A. Hudson, Sr. A veteran of the United States Navy, he served aboard the USS Astoria (CL-90) at the end of World War II. Mr. Hudson was an accomplished athlete and life-long sports enthusiast, and was an inductee of the Dutchess County Basketball Hall of Fame and the Wappingers Central School District Thomas D. Macrini Sports Hall of Fame. He was a longtime employee of the former Texaco Research Center in Glenham, NY, retiring as an electrician. Survivors include his son, Thomas F. Hudson and his wife, Alisha, of Columbia, SC; two grandsons, Matthew T. Hudson and Palmer P. Hudson, of Athens, GA, and Atlanta, GA; step-granddaughter Emily V. Spessard Hudson, of Columbia, SC; and numerous other family members and friends. Mr. Hudson was predeceased by his wife, Susan Alley Hudson, in 1991, and his half-brother, Dudley R. Buck, in 1966. Family will receive their friends on Thursday, February 26, 2009 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 27 at the funeral home with Pastor Lindsay Borden officiating. Interment will be in the spring in Wappingers Rural Cemetery.
