Obituary of Elaine M. Brooks

Elaine M. Brooks Elaine M. Brooks, 66, a forty year resident of Wappingers Falls, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, February 25, 2009 after a valiant battle with cancer. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker who will be lovingly remembered by her family and everyone whose life she touched. Mrs. Brooks was born September 19, 1942 in Dobbs Ferry, New York to the late Karl and Magdalen Wetzel. She was a 1960 graduate of Sleepy Hollow High School. On March 8, 1969 she married Harry Brooks, who survives at home. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Lauren Brooks-Kerzner and her husband, Gregory of Red Hook; her son Carlton Brooks and his wife, Mary-Ellin of Albuquerque, New Mexico; her son, Steven Brooks of Guilderland, New York and four precious grandchildren, Karl, Madeline, Andrew and Stephanie. She is also survived by her sister, Marilyn Wright of Thornwood, New York; her mother-in-law, Christine Brooks of Pawling, New York; two brothers-in-law; a niece and nephew and several cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Karl Wetzel, Jr. and sister, Barbara Jensen. Family will receive their friends on Sunday, March 1, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Monday, March 2 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls. Interment will be in the spring in Wappingers Rural Cemetery.
