Margaret M. Connolly
Margaret M. Connolly, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest, Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Wingate at Dutchess. She was 84.
Daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Herlihy Mahon, she was born February 19, 1925 in the Bronx. She graduated from Aquinas High School in the Bronx. On June 18, 1949, she married Arthur J. Connolly at St. Luke's Church in the Bronx. Mr. Connolly preceded her in death on October 22, 1978.
Prior to her retirement, she was a secretary for the Wappingers Central School District. She was Past President of the CSEA, Secretarial Union of the WCSD, and a member of the Dutchess County Educational Secretarial Association. Margaret was a founding member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians in Dutchess County, a member of the Kevin Barry Irish Club, and a founding member of the Dutchess County St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee. In 2004, she was honored to be named Grand Marshall of the Dutchess County St. Patrick's Day Parade. Margaret was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church, Wappingers Falls, a member of the St. Mary's Mother's Guild and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Queen of Peace, Wappingers Falls. She also was a member of the Red Hat Society.
Survivors include her children, Arthur J. Connolly and his wife, Clara of Lexington, Kentucky, Catherine Roberts of Bradenton, Florida, Margaret Mary Connolly of Hyde Park, Brian J. Connolly and his wife, Sandra of Williston, Vermont and Peter D. Connolly and his fianc� Debora DeLucia of Wappingers Falls; her sisters, Anne O'Keefe and her husband, Patrick of East Rockaway, New York and Judy Montgomery of Lynbrook, New York; her grandchildren, Kellen, Kylie, Sean, Kyle, and Quinn and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive their friends on Friday, March 6, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Saturday, March 7 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.
