Obituary of Eleanor J. Croshier

Eleanor J. Croshier Eleanor J. Croshier of the Village of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Monday, March 9, 2009 at home. She was 74. Daughter of the late Arthur G. Booth and the late Mary Catherine VanVliet Decker, she was born on September 11, 1934 in Poughkeepsie. She married the love of her life, Robert S. Croshier on July 12, 1953 in Chelsea; Mr. Croshier precedes her in death, passing on July 14, 1985. Eleanor was born and raised on her family's farm in Chelsea; she also attended Wappingers Schools. She had many jobs throughout her life. In addition to raising her two children, she was a former secretary for the Hughsonville Fire Department, a regular poll worker and a former member of the Wappingers Falls Republican Club. Most recently, she was a court clerk for Town of Wappinger Justice Court, until her retirement. In her spare time, Eleanor was an avid bingo player and loved to shop the flea markets. She was also a devoted congregant of the United Methodist Church of Wappingers Falls. Survivors include her daughters, Diane M. Williams and her companion, Uriel Richardson of Poughkeepsie, and Susan L. Croshier of Poughkeepsie; brother, Richard Booth and his wife, Connie of North Fort Myers, FL; sisters, Judith Frauenberger and her husband, Donald of Greenville, Nancy J. Smith of San Diego, CA, Betty Ladabouche and her husband, Walter of Rutland, VT, and Joy A. Eigo and her husband, John of Connolly; grandchildren, Michael Williams and his wife, Rosie of Pleasant Valley, and Marcus Williams and his companion, Monique of Hyde Park; great-grandchildren, Omar, Jayvion and Elijah; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Arthur Booth, Jr. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 12 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Wappingers Falls, 9 South Mesier Avenue in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in the family plot in Wappingers Rural Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.
