Obituary of James A. Stretch

James A. Stretch James A. Stretch, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Friday, May 22, 2009 at Elant at Wappingers Falls. He was 74. Son of the late Thomas and Jeanie Stretch, he was born March 18, 1935 in Manhattan. He married the former Marilyn D. Harris on February 9, 1963 in the Bronx. Mrs. Stretch survives at home in Wappingers Falls. He was a Special Patrol Officer at the Botanical Gardens in the Bronx. He also enjoyed the time he spent with his boys hunting, fishing and camping. In addition to his wife of forty-six years, he is survived by his children, James Stretch and his wife, Kerri of Wappingers Falls, Susan Spinelli and her husband, Marino of Mahopac, Donna Mazzariello and her husband, Michael of Hopewell Junction, Helene Layman and her husband, Steven, Sr. of Stormville, David Stretch of Wappingers Falls and Michelle Stretch and her companion, Lee Gondolfi of Wappingers Falls; his eight grandchildren, Stacy, Brian, Marino, Jr., Steven, Jr., Matthew, Tina, Kimberly and Katrina; his great-grandson, Gavin; his sister, Dorothy Sanchez and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers and one sister. Family will receive friends on Saturday, May 23, 2009 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, New York 12590. A service will be held at 8:30 p.m. The family wishes to extend their deep gratitude to the Nurses and Staff at Elant at Wappingers Falls for taking very good care of James for the past three years.
