Obituary of Thomas E. Kane

Thomas E. Kane Thomas E. Kane of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. Son of the late Henry D. Kane, Sr. and the late Elizabeth Thompson Kane, he was born on June 8th in Philadelphia. He married the love of his life, the former Annabelle Bowman on September 18, 1954 in Philadelphia; Mrs. Kane preceded him in death, passing on September 13, 2004. Mr. Kane was an electrical engineer for IBM in East Fishkill until his retirement. There, he was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club. In his spare time he loved carpentry; he even built his own home, that he lived in until death. He took pride in his works and taught others his gifts. Survivors include his daughter, Lynn Kane-Nixon of the Town of Poughkeepsie; brother, James Kane and his wife, Charlotte of New Jersey; sisters, Sarah Kane of Philadelphia, PA, Catherine McDaniel of Willingboro, NJ, and Pauline Wilson and her husband, Francis of Sicklerville, NJ; grandchildren, Thomas and Anna Nixon; several nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Alda Matthis. In addition to his wife, Thomas was predeceased by his brothers, Henry Kane and Walter Kane, and his sisters, Doris Kane and Mary Kane. Family will receive friends on Sunday, July 26, 2009 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, New York 12590. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 27 at 10 a.m. at the Community Baptist Church, All Angels Hill Road in Wappingers Falls; Pastor William Dalrymple will officiate. Interment will follow in the family plot in Mount Lawn Cemetery, Sharon Hills, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Thomas' name to the Community Baptist Church, 226 All Angels Hill Road, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
