On April 27, 1947, he married Elaine M. Hoffman at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Port Chester. She survives at home.
Ed worked for Grumman Corp. on Long Island for several years before joining IBM Corp. in Poughkeepsie, where he worked from 1956 until his retirement in 1984. During his younger days, Ed was an accomplished bowler and marksman. He also enjoyed fishing, Giants football, and the New York Mets, and was every dog's best friend.
