Obituary of Mario A. Vergili

Mario A. Vergili Mario A. Vergili, a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest Friday, October 23, 2009 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. He was 82. Son of the late Francis and Nunzia Vergili, he was born March 17, 1927 in New York City. Mario proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. He married the former Frances Orsini on April 4, 1948 in the Bronx. Mrs. Vergili survives at home in Poughkeepsie. Prior to his retirement, Mario worked in sales at ASD in Poughkeepsie. He attended the Chapel at Mount Alvernia, Wappingers Falls with his wife. Mario enjoyed gardening, bowling, fishing and the outdoors. He was also an animal lover. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three sons, Richard Vergili and his wife, Joyce of Kingston, Frank Vergili of Mesa, Arizona and Kenneth Vergili and his wife, Kathleen of San Diego, California; his six grandchildren, Michael, Tamara, Mark, Christopher, Garrett and Dominick; and his two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Mylie Family will receive their friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Thursday, October 29 at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Parish, Hudson View Drive, Poughkeepsie. Entombment will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Community Mausoleum, South Avenue, Poughkeepsie.
