Obituary of Lucille Walker

Lucille Walker Lucille Walker, a resident of the Town of Wappinger, entered into rest Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 74. Daughter of the late Leroy and Jennie Wilborn Walters, she was born February 9, 1935 in Harlem. In 1956, she married Raymond Walker in New York City. Mr. Walker survives at home in Wappingers Falls. Lucille was a member of the Wappingers Senior Citizens and was a Room Mother at Myers Corners School when her children were young. She also enjoyed shopping, cooking and most importantly taking care of her family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Raymond Walker, Jr. and his wife, Wanda of Massachusetts, Leroy Walker of Highland, Lucille Steven of Newburgh, Richard Walker and his wife, Jocelyn of Silver Spring, Maryland, William Walker and his wife, Alicia of Poughkeepsie, Sandy Walker and his wife, Lisa of Annapolis, Maryland and Irving Walker of Buffalo, New York; her brothers, Jerome and Ernest Walters; her sister, Geneva Jones; fourteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Hettie and Elaine; brothers, Charles and Leroy, Jr. and her granddaughter, Shanna Walker. Family will receive their friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2009 at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. Family will also receive friends on Tuesday, October 27 from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 2611 South Avenue, Wappingers Falls. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Wappingers Falls. Entombment will follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Community Mausoleum, South Avenue, Poughkeepsie. Memorial donations in Lucille's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2678 South Road, Suite 102, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
