Robert S. Butler
Robert S. Butler, a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest Thursday, November 12, 2009 at his home. He was 53.
Son of Rosemary McKeane Butler and the late Robert W. Butler, he was born December 8, 1955 in Yonkers. He married the former Cyndee Conn in June 1985. Mrs. Butler survives at home.
Prior to his retirement, he was a Captain with the Westchester Correctional Department. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a member of the VFW, Wappingers Falls, the American Legion, Poughkeepsie and the New Hamburg Yacht Club. Robert was an avid golfer and also enjoyed bowling, boating and his cars.
In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by his children, Courtney L. Butler and Matt R. Butler; his siblings, Michael Butler, Karen Botelho, Doug Butler and David Butler and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive their friends on Sunday, November 15, 2009 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, November 16 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main St., Wappingers Falls.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, November 17 at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.
