Obituary of Annie Lou Disbrow
Annie Lou Disbrow, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Friday, November 7, 2014 at Renaissance Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center in Staatsburg. She was 82.
Daughter of the late Ira E. and Effie Kidder Horton, she was born July 30, 1932 in Poughkeepsie. She enjoyed the time spent with her foster parents, the late Mark and Alma Boudreau. Annie Lou married Joseph H. Disbrow on April 3, 1954 in Poughkeepsie. Mr. Disbrow preceded her in death on June 26, 1996.
Prior to her retirement, she worked as a registered nurse at Vassar Hospital and the former Central Dutchess Nursing Home. She was an active member of New Hackensack Reformed Church. She was an original member of their prayer chain and involved with their Lunch Box, Birthday Dessert, Women's Group and Senior Group. She was a former board member of Gleneagles Rest Home. She was active in both the Roosevelt High School Alumni Association and Vassar Brothers Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association. Annie Lou enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. Many memories were made summering at Sacandaga Lake. She will forever be remembered as a loving wife, wonderful mother and grandmother who spent a lifetime caring for people.
Survivors include her children, Donna O'Brien and husband, Dennis of Wappingers Falls, Patty DiMarco and husband, Tony of Broadalbin, New York, Tom Disbrow of Plano, Texas, and Steve Disbrow and wife, Missy of Wappingers Falls; her sister, Irene Campbell of North Syracuse; her brother, Edward Boudreau and wife, Cecilia of Waterloo, New York; her grandchildren, Sean and Gerard O'Brien, Tiffany and Marianna DiMarco, Amber and Tom Disbrow, Jesse and Daniel Disbrow, and Megan Hayton; her great-granddaughter, Shayna Rose; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Friday, November 14, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 15 at New Hackensack Reformed Church, 1580 Route 376 in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Route 9, Fishkill.
