Obituary of Donald Nason

Donald Nason Donald Nason of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at home. He was 47. Son of the late Harold and Patricia Nason, he was born on March 20, 1962 in Poughkeepsie. He married the love of his life, Sylvia Thurbur on July 25, 2008; Mrs. Nason survives at home in Wappingers Falls. Donald graduated from Poughkeepsie BOCES in 1977. In 1985 he became a part of the Greystone Program, where he remained for almost 25 years. He did work for Brigg's Farm Program in Poughkeepsie, as well as vocational work at Abilities First in Poughkeepsie. In his spare time, Donald enjoyed doing crosswords, going to arcades and playing board games, especially Monopoly. He was an avid sports fan, routing for all the New York teams. He loved going out to eat and always enjoyed trips to Dunkin Donuts. Most of all, Donald loved his time he spent with his wife Sylvia; they had a charming, close relationship. In addition to his wife, Sylvia, Donald is survived by his sister, Julie Paar of Amenia; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and many dear friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 30, 2009 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held following visitation at 12 noon; Rev. Jan Fritzinger will officiate. Interment will take place in Wappingers Rural Cemetery, Wappingers Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Donald's name to the Greystone Endowment, 36 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
