Obituary of Dorothy E. Elliott

Dorothty E. Elliott Dorothy E. Elliott, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. She was 92. Daughter of the late John C. and Bessie Mary Baldwin Storm, she was born August 23, 1917 in Poughkeepsie. Dorothy was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School. In 1949, she married Albert S. Elliott. Mr. Elliott preceded her in death in 1988. Prior to her retirement in 1997, Dorothy was a legal secretary for the District Attorney's Office in Poughkeepsie for twenty-two years. It was a job she loved. She was a former member of the Evergreen Chapter of the Sweet Adelines. Dorothy had a passion for music and the arts, especially singing and tap dancing. She also enjoyed crocheting afghans for family and friends. Survivors include her children, Diane Fiore of Dacono, Colorado, Donna Elliott of Wappingers Falls and Richard Elliott and his wife, Denise of Staatsburg; her grandchildren, Jennifer, Danielle, Ryan and Jonathan; her great-grandchildren, Sofia, Olivia and Liliana; her brother, Walter Storm and his wife, Becky of Hyde Park; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Helen and Marion. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 28 at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Avenue, Poughkeepsie. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dorothy's name may be made to the American Heart Association, 301 Manchester Road, Suite 105, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
