Obituary of Raymond R. Dolfinger

Raymond R. Dolfinger, Jr. Raymond R. Dolfinger, Jr. of Poughkeepsie entered into rest Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Castle Point VAMC. He was 59. Son of Raymond R. Dolfinger, Sr. and the late Katherine Atkins Dolfinger, he was born on March 6, 1950 in Beacon. He married the love of his life, Barbara Priore on April 9, 1978 in Fishkill; Mrs. Dolfinger preceded him in death passing in 1992. Raymond attended Wappingers Schools. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. After, he returned home and worked for Texaco Research Center, Metro North Railroad and, most recently, as an independent contractor. In his spare time, he loved to read and to work on cars; he was a big NASCAR fan. Raymond loved to have conversation; he loved to discuss news and politics. Most of all, he loved his family; he was a beloved father and grandfather, and will be deeply missed. Survivors include his father, Raymond R. Dolfinger, Sr. and his wife, Sheila of Wappingers Falls; his sons, Cory Dolfinger and his fianc�e, Rachel of Fishkill, and Michael Dolfinger of Poughkeepsie; his sisters, Cynthia Griffin and her husband, Wayne of Beacon, and Nancy Huntley of High Point, NC; grandchildren, Tyler Pitterson and Tiffany, Marissa and Mariah Dolfinger; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved dog, Colby. In addition to his wife, Barbara and his mother, Katherine, he was predeceased by his cousin, Rhonda Atkins. Family will receive their friends on Sunday, February 7, 2010 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 8 at 1 p.m. at Zion Episcopal Church, Satterlee Place in Wappingers Falls. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Raymond's name to the Dutchess County SPCA, 636 Violet Avenue, Hyde Park, NY 12538.
