Obituary of Steven A. Bonomo

Steven A. Bonomo, Sr. Steven A. Bonomo, Sr., of the Town of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Castle Point VAMC. He was 78. Son of the late August and Josephine Ercolani Bonomo, he was born August 28, 1931 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. On July 17, 1954, he married the former Alice Malacarne in Wilkes-Barre. Mrs. Bonomo survives at home. Steve proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard. He was honorably discharged in 1954. Prior to his retirement in 1991, he worked as an engineer at IBM, Poughkeepsie for thirty-five years. He went on to work as an independent consultant for five years. Steve was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church, Wappingers Falls and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1646, Wappingers Falls. He also enjoyed traveling and vacationing with his family. Most importantly, Steve was a good and loving husband and father who loved spending time with his family and fourteen grandchildren. He will be missed by his family and all who were privileged to know him. In addition to his wife of fifty-five years, he is survived by his children, Steven A. Bonomo, Jr. and his wife, Cathy of Chicago, Illinois, Bonnie O'Rourke and her husband, Roger of Ballston Lake, New York, Cindy Roosken and her husband, Steve of Austin, Texas, Tina Dorazio and her husband, Chris of Stormville and Krista Schmitt and her husband, Eric of Poughkeepsie; his grandchildren, Sarah, Christine and Steven Bonomo, III; Nick, Dennis and Kelly O'Rourke; Brendon, Derek and Kelcie Roosken; Jessica, Michael, Justin and Max Dorazio and Cody Schmitt; his brothers, Al Bonomo of Connecticut and Ron Bonomo of Illinois; and several nieces and nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his brother, August Bonomo, Jr. Family will receive their friends on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 16 and 17, 2010 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY, 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, March 18 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wappingers Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Steve's name may be made to Hospice, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 or St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
