Obituary of Sylvia B. Hendryk

Sylvia B. Hendryk Sylvia B. Hendryk, of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. She was 85. Daughter of the late Victor and Lizzie Presley Thorpe, she was born October 12, 1924 in Bristol, England. She was a war bride, coming to the United States after World War II. Prior to her retirement, Sylvia worked as a bindery worker at Western Printing in Poughkeepsie for twenty-eight years and later worked for four years as analyst at IBM. Sylvia enjoyed knitting, crocheting and embroidery. She also was fond of gardening. Survivors include her daughter, Liz Hendryk of Wappingers Falls; her son, Michael J. Hendryk and his wife, Christine of Wappingers Falls and her three grandchildren Kimberly Hendryk and her fianc�, Benjamin Guinta, Ashley Murin and her husband, Bill and Michael V. Hendryk. She was predeceased by her son, Vincent V. Hendryk who was a Staff Sgt. in the United States Air Force and died in a plane crash in Alaska on his way to Vietnam.
