Obituary of Elizabeth S. Teller

Elizabeth S. Teller Elizabeth S. Teller, a forty-seven year resident of Wappingers Falls, died peacefully in her home on April 17, 2010. Born on July 14, 1930 in White Plains, she was the daughter of the late Edith Woodruff Shera and J. Courtney Shera. Betty, as she was known, was an elementary school music teacher in the Wappingers Central School District mainly at Kinry Road and Fishkill. She started her teaching career in Norwalk, CT. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA and a Master's Degree in Music Education from Columbia Teacher's College in New York, NY. She loved music and was an active member of the Camerata Chorale and the Choir at the First Presbyterian Church in Wappingers Falls. She was also an active member of the Mount Holyoke Alumnae Association. Betty is survived by her husband of thirty-six years, Ralph T. Teller, Jr.; two daughters, Cynthia Shetler and her husband, Greg of Westerly, RI and Barbara Seith of Norwalk, CT; two step-sons, Keith Teller and his wife, Jessica of Poughkeepsie and Eric Teller and his wife, Mary Lou of Hyde Park; step-daughter, Rebecca Mancuso and her husband, Nick of Poughquag and four grandchildren, Kyle Grant and Claire Erica Teller, Myles Arthur (Mojo) Mancuso and Mikhaila Shetler. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Virginia Seith and Jean Andrews. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, April 21 at First Presbyterian Church, 2568 South Avenue, Wappingers Falls. Entombment will follow in the Community Mausoleum at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Avenue, Poughkeepsie. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Betty's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2 Jefferson Plaza, Suite 203, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601, Hospice, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 or First Presbyterian Church, 2568 South Avenue, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
