Obituary of Katharina Sroka

Katharina Sroka Katharina Sroka of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at home surrounded by her family. She was 83. Daughter of the late Theodor and Clara Wulker Heinenbernd, she was born on July 10, 1926 in Ochtrup Krs. Steinfurt, Germany. On April 29, 1948 she married Josef Sroka in Germany. Mr. Sroka preceded her in death, passing in 1993. Mrs. Sroka was a resident of Wappingers Falls for ten years and previously lived in Yonkers, NY. Her greatest joy was taking care of everyone else. Survivors include her children, Helga LaCava of Brookfield CT; Melanie June and her husband Charles of Middleton, NH and Joseph Sroka and his wife Ellen of Wappingers Falls; her grandchildren Cassandra, Brendon, Alicia, Michael, Andrew, Natalie, Kristie, Joseph, Bridgette and Samantha. She is also survived by her great granddaughter, Danica. Family will receive their friends on Thursday July 8, 2010 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Church, Clinton St., Wappingers Falls on Friday July 9, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hastings-on-Hudson, NY.
