May God have mercy on Father Thomas's immortal soul and grant him everlasting peace. I was in his 1953 graduation class from Christopher Columbus High School. Father was many things, but most especially he was a mentor, a friend, a very holy priest and a most effective member of the Franciscan community. All who knew him will miss him. All Columbus graduates will feel a void each Christmas without his informative letter and his interest in each of us.

Secular Franciscans have lost a great supporter, mentor and priest with the passing of Fr. Tom Nicastro. He was the Spiritual Assistant for the Holy Stigmata Fraternity for more than 25 years. Fr. Tom was the Holy Spirits tool that drew me to the Secular Franciscan Order. Going back almost twenty years I heard one of Fr. Toms sermons which spoke about coming to an SFO information night at Mt. Alvernia. I attended that night which began my journey to living the Gospel life. He has been a patient mentor in guiding me along my path of continuing formation. He encouraged me to play an active role in our fraternity and later in the Fr. Solanus Casey region. One day at a Holy Thursday service, I heard another priest refer to Fr. Tom as a Priests Priest. He was a role model for everyone who knew him through out the community.
As the leader of numerous retreats he shared his faith and love for St. Francis and St. Clare to thousands of people. As principle of a Catholic High School in Boston, he continued to receive letters from students that were now General Managers and Presidents of their companies, thanking him for the guidance and direction that he provided them when they were teenagers. Yes, Fr. Tom will be remembered by many and what he has taught will be carry on by all that he touched. This is definitely our loss but he will be joining other great Franciscans in heaven and he will be praying for us all.

Father Tom was headmaster at Christopher Columbus High School in Boston's North End. I graduated with the Class of 1958.
Father Tom was instrumental in helping to mold his students to become honorable, successful men in whatever field they chose. Many of the CCHigh classmates meet and all speak so highly of Father Tom and the education they received. We received a college education at a high school level. We learned to be disciplined which helped us through our lives. May God Bless Father Tom and may he rest in peace.

Father Tom was headmaster at Christopher Columbus High School in Boston's North End during my years there as a student, Class of 1953. I'm sure it was not easy dealing with a building full of teenage boys but he handled it with grace and class. Thank you Father Thomas.

Fr. Tom was principal of Christopher Columbus High School when I was a student there (class 57). I have never forgotten the talks we had, nor the examples he gave to help mold us in our youth. He was the true example of what the priestly vocation is all about. May he be at peace with the Lord in heaven.

In 1951, I tranferred from St. Francis Jr. Seminary in West Andover to Columbus High School in Boston's North End where I became a member of the class of 1953. In all that time, it was impossible to not note what an honorable priest and gentleman Fr. Tom was and continued to be. God blessed him and Fr. Tom lived up to his gift.

Eternal Rest to a beloved priest. I know Fr. Tom since my grade school years at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Manhattan, and later when he was retreat minister for the Secular Franciscan Order. A faithful and tireless son of St. Francis, he inspired and most importantly, he taught by his example.
May our Lord grant him peace and all good in His heavenly kingdom.
