Obituary of Kathryn K. Dille

Kathryn K. Dille Kathryn K. Dille died peacefully on Monday, July 12, 2010 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 81. Daughter of the late Walter E. and Bertha Sayler Kerrick, she was born on March 26, 1929 in Parma Idaho and graduated from high school there. She attended the College of Idaho and graduated in Home Economics from Oregon State College. After teaching Home Economics for one year, she married Kenneth L. Dille on August 24, 1952 in the Community Church in Parma, Idaho. While her husband worked for his PhD. at Oregon State College, she worked in the Nutrition Research Department. Following graduation, he came to work for Texaco in Beacon, New York as a Research Chemist. Dr. Dille survives at home. They are the parents of three daughters and one son, Patricia Delgado and her husband, Michael of Coppell, TX, Pamela Rosenberger and her husband, Joseph Howard of Wappingers Falls, Nancy Hildenbrand and her husband, Francis of Wappingers Falls, NY and Kenneth Joel Dille and his wife, Yadira of Aiken, SC. They are also survived by eight grandchildren, Julie Rosenberger and Lisa Salmon and her husband, Chris; Nicole, Eric, Bradley and Bryon Hildenbrand; Joanna Dille and Jodi Delgado. She is also survived by one brother, Dr. Charles Kerrick and his wife, Patricia of Caldwell, ID and their seven children and their families. Kathryn was a homemaker and did various volunteer work while her children were growing up; Cub Scout Den Mother, assisted with Girl Scouts, was secretary of Evans School PTA, collected for several fund drives and was chairman of the Dutchess County Heart Fund Drive. She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wappingers Falls where she taught Sunday school for several years and was a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels. She worked for K-Mart for eight years after her family was raised. She was also a member of the YMCA. She loved being an at home mother raising her family and especially enjoyed sewing, cooking, swimming, music and traveling. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main St., Wappingers Falls, NY. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church of Wappingers Falls, 40 South Ave, Wappingers Falls, NY. Entombment will follow in the Poughkeepsie Rural Mausoleum, South Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Kathryn's name may be made to Meals on Wheels, c/o the First Presbyterian Church, 40 South Ave., Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
