Obituary of Juliana H. Vass
Juliana Vass
Juliana Vass, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Thursday, August 12, 2010 at her home. She was 74.
Daughter of the late Heinrich and Magdelena Huettenberger Harfmann, she was born December 6, 1935 in Yugoslavia.
She was married to Geza Vass for over fifty years before his death on April 7, 2005. Prior to her retirement, she was a food service director for Northern Manor in Nanuet. She had a deep love of cooking. She also enjoyed reading and classical music as well as tending to her flowers.
She is survived by her children, Waltraud Grunbart of Austria, Geza Vass of Phoenix, Arizona, Attila Vass and his wife, Darlene of Pomona, Albert Vass and his wife, Christina of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Martha Marino and her husband, Harry of Middletown; her brother, Edward Harfmann of Austria; her sisters, Joanna Stieger of Dayton, Ohio and Marie Martinez of El Paso, Texas; her grandchildren, Sandra, Heather, Julianna, Joseph, Steven, Erika, Tanja and Nadine; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Katherine, Rudolph, Andres, Karolina, and Annelise and her grandson, Christopher.
Family will receive their friends and family Sunday, August 15, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
A funeral service will be offered at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 16 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street, Wappingers Falls.
