Obituary of Joan M. Riley

Joan M. Riley Joan M. Riley, 79, a Town of Poughkeepsie resident, died Monday, August 16, 2010 at her home. Daughter of the late Kenneth and Florence Gray, she was born in May of 1931 in Poughkeepsie. She was a 1949 graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and also graduated from the Barbizon School of Modeling in 1952. She was a model in New York City and locally for many years. She worked as a secretary at IBM and later as a bookkeeper for several local lumber companies. In 1953 she married her former husband Robert L. Riley. He predeceased her on March 17, 1999. They were married for 35 years and had two children. She is survived by her son, Robb Riley of Charlotte, North Carolina; her daughter, Robyn Dombrowski and her husband, Brian of Sarasota, Florida and her granddaughter, Dara Dombrowski. She is also survived by William "Bill" Hoover, the love of her life, who resided with her. Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Friday, August 27, 2010 at Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street, Wappingers Falls. The Rev. Lindsay Borden will officiate.
