Obituary of Ludmila Demkiw

Ludmila Demkiw Ludmila Demkiw, a resident of the Town of Wappinger, died Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. She was 82. Daughter of the late Dymtro and Ludmila Rericha Samochwal, she was born July 8, 1928 in Prague, Czech Republic. Mrs. Demkiw was a parishioner of St. Andrew's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Campbell Hall. She enjoyed gardening and Ukrainian Embroidery. She is survived by her husband, Michael Demkiw at home in Wappingers Falls; her son, Bohdan Cybyk of Maldron, Essex, England; her daughter, Kalyna Cybyk of Wappingers Falls; her brother, Franz Samochval and his family; her sisters, Natalie Kaniuga and Anna Demkiw and their families; her grandchildren, Alexandra and Damon Cybyk and her great-granddaughter, Rebecca Williamson. She is also survived by her step-sons, Oleh Demkiw and his family and Nester Demkiw. She was predeceased by her first husband, Myron Cybyk on December 26, 1971. Family will receive friends on Friday, September 10, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 11 at St. Andrew's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 141 Sarah Wells Trail, Campbell Hall, NY 10916. Interment will follow in Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Campbell Hall. Memorial donations in Mrs. Demkiw's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2678 South Road, Suite 102, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
