Obituary of Edward E. Meusburger

Edward E. Meusburger Edward "Eddy" E. Meusburger, a longtime resident of Wappinger Falls, was peacefully called to the Lord on September 20, 2010 with his family beside him at home. Edward was born on June 14, 1926 in NYC, son of RoseEllen Lynch and Charles Meusburger; he grew up in the Bronx, NY. He attended St. Peter and Paul School in the Bronx, but was soon recognized for his talent as an illustrator and transferred to art school. Ed was a remarkable artist, graduating from the School of Industrial Art and Art Student League in Manhattan. Ed also served in the United States Army during WWII, in the Battle of the Bulge for Company C, 63 Infantry Division- the Dog Soldiers "Blood and Fire". He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his demonstration of combat valor. His artistic talent resonated by the distinguished request to draw and design bridges for combat thoroughfare. Upon return to the States, Eddy met and married the former Elizabeth Ferrara on April 2, 1955. He is survived by his loving wife at home. He called her "the love of his life" and left us holding on to her. Eddy is also survived by many who love him; his children: Glenn Meusburger of Wappinger Falls, Daughters JoEllen Chickery and husband Thomas of Hopewell Jct, and Allison Tebolt and husband James of Wappinger Falls. He loved and cherished his grandchildren only second to his beloved wife: Thomas J. Chickery, Marc E. Chickery, Tina E. Chickery, Amy Meusburger, and Carly and Luke Tebolt. He was overjoyed to recently to love and hold his great granddaughter, Sophia Maria. Also very treasured in his life was his brother in law John and wife Piedad Ferrara, his nephew Dr. Charles E. Meusburger, nieces Gwendolyn, Beatrice, and their children Christopher, Alexis, and Nicholas, and lastly the whole Evangelista clan who he celebrated as family. He was predeceased by his son, Joseph and brother, Charles. Eddy was a versatile fellow with a plethora of interests; most who met him treasured the encounter as he was truly delightful, well versed, and thought provoking. He took delight in participating in passionate debate and looked forward to his one fine glass of scotch at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Our family wishes to extend special thanks to Vivian Compton, RN and the whole Castle Point VA medical team who provided him with so much support and excellent care. Special thanks also to the VBMC Hospitalists team: Dr. Franklin, Dr. Forson, and Dr. Shah, the clinical team of PCU and South Circle 7, and personal care taker, "Nellie" for consistently providing Ed with compassionate care and personal friendship.
