Obituary of Elaine M. Crotone

Elaine Crotone of the Town of Poughkeepsie entered into eternal rest Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 72. Daughter of the late Celio and Elvira DalCortivo, she was born on October 19, 1942 in New Jersey. In Montecchia di Crosara Italy, she married the love of her life, the late Joseph Crotone on July 16, 1960. In 2010, they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary where all their friends and family traveled from afar to attend. Mrs. Crotone was Vice President of Lion Plumbing and Heating in Poughkeepsie for many years, until her retirement. She was also a communicant of St. Martin de Porres Church in Poughkeepsie. She was very blessed to still pal around with her childhood friends and many more she met throughout her life. She was an avid reader and loved to travel and cook. She and her husband traveled all over the world throughout their married life, often times bringing grandchildren and children with them. She spent summers at the Jersey shore, her favorite place on earth, where she shared decades of treasured memories with her family. Her life was centered on family. Elaine was very close to her sisters-in-law in Italy, where she also had many cousins. She recently spent a month there with family. She loved her six grandchildren very much and they were the light of her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. Elaine is survived by her son, Joseph J. Crotone of Mesa, AZ; daughters, Lisa McKevitt of Poughkeepsie and Noel Crotone of Poughkeepsie; grandchildren, Thomas McKevitt, Joseph Crotone, III, Chelsea McKevitt, Jessica McKevitt, Allison Mikler, and Madison Mikler; her niece, Laurie Posnak; great nieces, Gisella and Cassandra; and her dog, Rudy Guiliani Crotone. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Crotone and sister, Elda Sampson. Family will receive friends on Monday, December 1, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, December 2 at 10 a.m. at St. Martin de Porres Church, Cedar Valley Road in Poughkeepsie. Entombment will follow in the Poughkeepsie Rural Community Mausoleum, Poughkeepsie.
