Obituary of Frances R. Porpora

Frances Porpora Frances Porpora, 91, entered into rest on October 25, 2010. Frances was the widow of Ralph Porpora, who predeceased her by thirty years, and the mother of Al Porpora, who passed 19 years ago. Daughter of the late Pietro and Rosa Ragonese Conforti, she was born on November 17, 1918 in Manhattan. Originally from the Bronx, Frances moved to Yonkers and then to Mahwah, New Jersey to live with her sister, Lucy; Lucy predeceased her in 2003. Since that time, she has lived in Dutchess County, most recently at The Lexington Club in Poughkeepsie. She is survived by her son, Joe Porpora and his wife, Mary of Wappingers Falls; daughter, Virginia Marinello of Hazlet, New Jersey; daughter-in-law, Lynn Porpora of Bronx; grandchildren, Michael and Kathy Bailey of Poughkeepsie, Christopher Porpora of Cornwall-on-Hudson, Matthew Porpora of Brooklyn, Megan Porpora of Bronx, Samantha and Jennifer Porpora of Los Angeles, California, and Marisa and Teresa Marinello of Hazlet, New Jersey; great grandchildren, Amanda Bailey, Dante Marinello and Rebecca Odland; and her great-great grandchildren, Kaiden Odland, Ellany Fernandez and Joseph Fernandez. Family will receive their friends on Friday, October 29, 2010 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be celebrated Rev. Sr. Jean Campbell on Saturday, October 30 at 11 a.m. at Zion Episcopal Church, Saterlee Place in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in Wappingers Rural Cemetery, Wappingers Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Frances' name to Zion Episcopal Church, 12 Saterlee Place, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
