Obituary of Edith J. Rosen
Edith J. Rosen, 69, died peacefully on December 3, after a long illness. She was born in Pittsburgh on April 12, 1945, to William C. Jones and Elizabeth H. Jones. She graduated from Wellesley College with a BA degree in music in 1967, the same year that she married her loving husband, Barry K. Rosen. They have lived in Stormville since 1971.
For many years, Edith was active in the League of Women Voters and in the Daughters of the American Revolution. She gave tours of the historic Madame Brett homestead in Beacon. More recently, she was an active member of the Fortnightly Club (including a term as President) and the Independence Belles (including a term as Treasurer). She also enjoyed art exhibits, concerts, day hiking, and planting crocus and daffodils.
Edith's gentle disposition and lovely alto voice will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Barry in Stormville and by her brother, Charles O Jones in Tucson.
The family appreciates the compassion and skill shown by the staff of Elant at Wappingers Falls in caring for Edith during her last years.
All who knew Edith will be welcome at the calling hours, from 2 pm to 5 pm on Monday, December 8, 2014 at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls.
