Obituary of John J. Fitzgerald

John J. Fitzgerald John J. Fitzgerald, 68, of Wappingers Falls, formerly of Massapequa and Hewlett, NY, passed away peacefully at home on October 29, 2010. He was the son of the late John and Catherine Fitzgerald. Survivors include his brother Frank Fitzgerald and his wife, Peggy; his sisters, Maureen Gallagher and Sr. Teresa Fitzgerald CSJ; eight nieces and nephews; and eleven grandnieces and grandnephews. John graduated from Chaminade High School and Cathedral College. He had been a social worker for Catholic Charities and Little Flower Children's Services for 20 years. John also worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Holtsville, NY before retiring last year. Family will receive friends on Monday, November 1, 2010 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main St., Wappingers Falls, NY, 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Tuesday, November 2 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in the Cemetery of the Holy Rood, Westbury, NY. Memorial donations may be made in John's name to Hour Children, 36-11 12th Street, Long Island City, NY 11106.
