Obituary of Fred A. Vanzillotta

Fred A. Vanzillotta, Sr. Fred A. Vanzillotta, Sr., a resident of the Town of Wappinger since 1971 and formerly of the Bronx, entered into rest Thursday, September 9, 2010 at his home. He was 77. Son of the late Frank and Jenny Borrelli Vanzillotta he was born June 18, 1933. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Fred was retired for over twenty years, previously working as a Civil Engineer for Hartford Insurance Company in Mount Kisco. He was a "Cancer Survivor" and former president of Mid Hudson Lost Chord Club. Fred attended the Wappingers Senior Center where he especially enjoyed bingo and chess. He was an avid New York Yankee's fan. Most importantly, he was a proud grandfather. Fred enjoyed watching his grandchildren play little league and soccer. He also took great pride in taking them to Yankee's games. He is survived by his children, Gena L. Beairsto of Wappingers Falls, Vicky Thornton and her husband, Jim of Pleasant Valley and Fred Vanzillotta of Marlboro; the mother of his children, Beverly Linton of Wappingers Falls; and his beloved grandchildren, Shane, Dillon and Brendan Shanahan, Frankie and Niko Vanzillotta and Marissa Vanzillotta, his princess. He was predeceased by his sister, Louise Moscato and his nephew, Silvio Moscato. Family will receive friends on Monday, September 13, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 14 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street, Wappingers Falls.
