Obituary of Geraldine M. Laeben

Geraldine "Jean" Laeben Geraldine M. Laeben entered into rest Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at The Baptist Home of Brooklyn in Rhinebeck. Daughter of the late James and Mary Walsh Oates, she was born in Brooklyn. She married Reynold B. Laeben on June 29, 1946 in Brooklyn; he preceded her in death, passing on April 12, 1980. Mrs. Laeben came to Wappingers Falls in 1950 and later worked as a secretary for IBM in Poughkeepsie until her retirement. She volunteered for many years for Meals-On-Wheels in Wappingers Falls. She was also a member of St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls. Survivors include her daughter, Karin Laeben of Wappingers Falls and several nieces. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret Barrett and Mary Fitzgerald. Family will receive their friends on Sunday, January 23, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, January 24 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wappingers Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Literacy Connections, 325 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
