Alice M. Nealy
Alice M. Nealy, a longtime resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 69.
Daughter of Lucy Gallo Auger of Nanuet and the late Joseph "Lou" Auger, she was born June 7, 1941 in the Bronx. On August 15, 1971 in Yonkers, she married Robert W. Nealy. Mr. Nealy preceded her in death February 19, 2008.
Prior to her retirement, Alice worked in Customer Service and Sales at Sears in Poughkeepsie and later for Cablevision in Wappingers Falls. She had a love of singing and was a member of the Mount Alvernia Choir and the Sweet Adelines. Alice enjoyed watching sports especially her Yankees as well as football. She also had a soft spot in her heart for animals.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her children, Alicia VanCura and her husband, John of Hopewell Junction, Janet May and her husband, Hector of Lagrangeville, Linda McLoughlin of Saddle Brook, New Jersey and Brian Nealy and his wife, Carrie of Poughkeepsie; her brothers, George Auger and his wife, Patricia of Pomona and Joseph Auger and his wife, Debra of Nanuet; and her grandchildren, John VanCura, Jr., Allison VanCura, Christopher VanCura, Jillian VanCura, Logan May, Emily Nealy, Maggie Nealy, and Carter Nealy.
Family will receive their friends on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, February 17 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
