Obituary of John Caruso

John Caruso John Caruso, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 83. Son of the late Alfonso and Pauline Vinci Caruso, he was born August 16, 1927 in New York City. Prior to his retirement John worked as a window decorator. John was a devoted contributor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as well as the Salesian Missions. Survivors include his sons, Stephen Caruso of New Jersey, Mark Caruso and his wife Teresa of Wappingers Falls and David Caruso and his wife, Lisa of Montrose; his brother, Alfred Caruso of Whitestone, Queens; his grandchildren, VictoriaLynn, Matthew, Gabrielle, Nicholas and Stephen, Jr. and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Matthew Caruso. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main St., Wappingers Falls, NY, 12590. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, February 25 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the family plot in St. Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in John's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
