Obituary of Helen M. Lechase

Helen M. Lechase Helen M. Lechase of LaGrange entered into rest Monday, March 7, 2011 at Somers Manor Nursing Home. She was 80. Daughter of the late Joseph and Filomena Rannalone Falco, she was born on May 3, 1930 in Yonkers. She married the love of her life, Salvatore Lechase on July 3, 1949 at Sacred Heart Church in Yonkers. Mr. Lechase preceded her in death, passing on May 17, 1995. Helen most recently worked for Yankee Candle in the Poughkeepsie Galleria; she had been with the store since they opened in the mall and truly enjoyed her time there. In her spare time, she loved to go out to dinner. Mostly, Helen loved spending time with her friends and family. Survivors include her son, Louis J. Lechase and his wife, Roseann of LaGrange; daughter, Jo-Ellen Citarella and her husband, Dominick of Mahopac; sister, Angela Foy of Yonkers; grandchildren, Guy Citarella of New Britain, CT, Lee Citarella of Indiana, PA, Jaclyn Lechase of LaGrange, and Breanna Lechase of LaGrange; several nieces and nephews; and her very close friends, Helen Oropesa and Helen Schavrien. In addition to her husband, Salvatore, she was predeceased by her brothers, Ralph and Carmine Falco, and her sister Faye Penna. Family will receive their friends on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, March 10 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Entombment will follow in Rose Hills Memorial Park, Putnam Valley. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Helen's name to the American Cancer Society, 2678 South Rd # 103, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
