Calvin Campbell
Calvin Campbell, a resident of Wappingers Falls since 1965, entered into rest Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 83.
Son of the late Calvin Neil and Jessie Lynk Campbell, he was born March 7, 1928 in New York City. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1947. He graduated from Union College where he received his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
He married the love of his life, the former Rose Carlozzi in 1957. Mrs. Campbell survives at home.
Calvin retired from IBM in Poughkeepsie as an electrical engineer in 1990. He was an avid golfer, but the main passion in his life was his family and friends. He will be truly missed.
In addition to his wife, Rose, he is survived by his three daughters, Linda Marconi and her husband, Joseph of Torrington, Connecticut, Susan Hundley and her husband, Gerald of Hyde Park and Joanne Walsh and her husband, Matthew of Trumbull, Connecticut; his sister, Ann McGovern and her husband, Thomas of California; his grandchildren, Domenic and Alexander Marconi and Jonathon Walsh; several nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
He was predeceased by his brother, John Campbell.
Family will receive friends on Friday, March 25, 2011 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
Family and friends are invited to a funeral service which will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 26 at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Avenue, Poughkeepsie.
