Obituary of Laura J. Lane

Laura "Jean" Lane Laura "Jean" Lane, a resident of Maybrook and former Wappingers Falls resident, entered into rest Friday, March 25, 2011 at Arden Hill Hospital in Goshen. She was 79. Daughter of the late Joseph C. and Nora Lorrance Haley, she was born February 15, 1932 in Sharon, Connecticut. On January 19, 1948, she married George W. Lane, Sr. in Marlboro, New York. After forty-five years of marriage, Mr. Lane preceded her in death in 1993. Prior to her retirement, Jean was a nurse working for Vassar Brothers Hospital and later in private duty. She was also an EMT with Sloper-Willen Community Ambulance Service. Jean was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Wappingers Falls. She enjoyed crafting, traveling and playing cards. Most important to her was her family and friends, she was always thoughtful and usually thinking of others. She will be truly missed. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Berinato of Fishkill and Lori Simpson and her husband, David of Florida; her companion of fifteen years, Virgil Schulhoff of Maybrook; her sister, Billie Irene McFadden of Saugteries; her brother, Joseph Haley of Nevada; thirteen granddaughters; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She also treasured her dog, P-air. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her children, George Lane, Jr., Barbara Briceno and John Lane and her siblings, Chester D. Haley, Kathleen Burhance and Edward Haley. Family will receive their friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls .A funeral service will be held during the evening visitation.
